The Clare Chemical Research Dark Reader DR-45M is a blue-light transilluminator with a 21 x 14 cm viewing surface, sized for mini gels and smaller samples. It excites fluorescent stains such as SYBR Green, SYBR Gold, GelGreen, SYPRO Ruby, fluorescein and GFP with visible blue light instead of UV. DNA is not exposed to UV damage before cloning, and users avoid UV exposure to skin and eyes. The amber viewing screen blocks the excitation light so bands stand out clearly, and it can double as a camera filter for gel imaging.
