Q Exactive HF-X Mass Spectrometer

The Thermo Scientific Q Exactive HF-X is a high performance benchtop quadrupole

Orbitrap system that combines a high capacity transfer tube capillary, an electrodynamic

ion funnel, and the most advanced quadrupole technology with a high field Orbitrap mass

analyzer and features high-resolution accurate mass analysis, with and without HCD

fragmentation.

The instrument contains the following:

• An Ion Max API H-ESI II probe with dual desolvation zone and 60° interchangeable ion

probe orientation. The H-ESI II ion source includes one HESI spray insert.

• A High Capacity Transfer Tube and an Electrodynamic Ion Funnel to capture and

efficiently focus ions in a tight beam.

• An Advanced Active Beam Guide to reduce noise by preventing neutrals and high-

velocity clusters from entering the quadrupole mass filter.

• A segmented quadrupole mass filter in front of the curved ion trap (C-Trap) with a

hyperbolic surface, which provide excellent peak shape and transmission with a minimum

resolution of 0.4 FWHM.

• A high-field Orbitrap Mass Analyzer with enhanced FT transient processing resulting in

resolving power of up to 240,000 FWHM at m/z 200 and isotopic fidelity, m/z range of

50-6000 (up to 8,000 with Biopharma option), with up to 40 Hz acquisition speed.

• A quadrupolar higher-energy collisional dissociation cell for HCD fragmentation.
