The Thermo Scientific Owl HEP-1 (originally manufactured by Owl Separation Systems) is a highly durable, Panther-series semi-dry electroblotter designed for the rapid and efficient transfer of proteins and nucleic acids from polyacrylamide or agarose gels onto nitrocellulose, PVDF, or nylon membranes. By utilizing a flat-plate design, it provides a uniform electrical field and even physical pressure across the entire gel surface, ensuring consistent, high-quality transfers while drastically reducing buffer consumption compared to traditional wet-tank blotting. The system features a rugged, machined acrylic housing and simple, screw-down knobs for secure assembly.

• Functional Status: This is a passive hardware unit that requires an external electrophoresis power supply to operate. It has been visually and mechanically inspected. The top securing knobs thread smoothly, and the gold-plated electrical binding posts are fully intact and secure.
• Cosmetic Status: Good used condition. The heavy-duty black acrylic exterior shows standard minor surface scuffs and scratches from routine laboratory handling. Most importantly, the internal metal transfer plates are highly reflective, clean, flat, and exhibit no severe chemical pitting, oxidation, or warping
