Description
This is a complete, bench-ready Gilson preparative HPLC purification workstation built around the VERITY GX-281 liquid handler/fraction collector — the same platform Gilson sells as the VERITY 281 HPLC System. The system is built around the GX-281 liquid handler/fraction collector with a bench-saving footprint and separate fluid pathways for samples and fraction collection, controlled by TRILUTION LC software. It is configured for the full purification cycle — automated injection, gradient separation, UV-triggered fraction collection, and re-injection — in a single integrated package.
The dual Gilson 333/334 prep pumps form a high-pressure binary gradient system. The 333/334 pumps are designed for preparative HPLC in normal and reverse-phase modes, accommodating columns from 10 to 50 mm ID at flow rates from 1 to 200 mL/min and pressures up to 3,040 psi (210 bar). For isocratic methods the 333 acts as master pump; the 333/334 combination delivers binary gradients, with milligram-to-gram loading up to 15 g depending on column size. Detection is handled by the higher-end Gilson 159 UV/VIS detector: the 159 monitors up to four wavelengths simultaneously while acquiring spectral data from 190–750 nm, with adjustable path-length flow cells accommodating 4.6 to 50 mm ID columns from analytical to pilot scale. Gilson + 2
This is a genuine compound-isolation engine for synthetic, medicinal, and natural-product chemistry — and unlike most secondhand units, this one received a Gilson factory preventive-maintenance service on 05/27/2025 (sticker present, performed by a named Gilson field service specialist).
Condition Notes
Condition: Used / Inspected — Good, powers on. Every module was visually and electrically inspected and powered up:
- 333 & 334 pumps: Power on; master-pump keypad/manometric display is live and reading flow rate, %A composition, and pressure. Pump heads and piston assemblies clean, no visible leakage at the heads.
- 159 UV/VIS detector: Powers on; front display active and reporting normal status (Start/Error/AZ all 0); POWER LED green, ON indicator lit, ERROR clear. Flow cell module installed.
- GX-281 liquid handler: Powers on; X/Y/Z arm, probe, GX Direct Injection Module (VICI valve, LOAD/INJECT), and GX Prep solvent-vent valve all present and intact. Sample bed clean with rack holders and glass collection-tube racks installed.
- 506C System Interface, Dell OptiPlex 7080 PC + TRILUTION LC software: Powers on; TRILUTION LC launches to the Method Builder configuration screen.
- Service status: Gilson PM completed 05/27/2025; next PM nominally due 05/2026.
- Cosmetic: Standard lab wear (minor scuffs/handling marks); no structural damage observed.
Serial / ID numbers captured:
- GX-281 Liquid Handler — Serial/Tag 262E1G091
- 159 UV/VIS Detector — Serial DNA212716003, Product No. E6520XC16
