Description
This listing is for a matched two-module ACQUITY UPLC H-Class Bio front-end from Waters: the bioQuaternary Solvent Manager (BQM) paired with the bioSample Manager – Flow-Through Needle (SM-FTN, model BDI). Both units share the same service history and were removed from a functioning analytical laboratory.
The H-Class Bio platform is purpose-built for biomolecule separations. Its MP35N bio-inert wetted flow path (visible on the labeled fittings) eliminates the iron and stainless contact that can adsorb or degrade proteins, peptides, oligonucleotides, and monoclonal antibodies — making this pair a strong fit for biopharma method development, characterization, and QC labs that need quaternary solvent flexibility with low-dispersion UHPLC performance. The flow-through-needle design delivers low-carryover, high-precision injections, while the quaternary pump blends up to four solvents on the low-pressure side for fast method scouting and direct legacy-HPLC method transfer.
Scope — please read: This is the solvent-delivery + sample-injection front-end only. It is not a complete, ready-to-run chromatograph. A detector (TUV / PDA / FLR / MS), a column manager or heater, columns, and Empower/CDS software + computer are NOT included and are required to perform a separation. This package is ideal for a lab that already owns a detector/CDS and needs a bio-inert pump + autosampler, or as a parts/repair platform.
Condition Notes
- Condition: Used – Operational. Removed from a working laboratory environment.
- Functional Status: Both modules power on and initialize (POWER LEDs illuminate on the BQM and SM-FTN, as shown). Reported operational at the time of removal from service. The bio-inert flow path, GPV plumbing, autosampler X-Y-Z mechanism, sample tray, and calibration pin are present and intact per photos.
- Qualification History: Per the affixed Waters service labels, PM / OQ / PQ was last performed 25 Jul 2019 (technician J. Leonard) with a recommended next-due of July 2020. This qualification has lapsed — the buyer should budget for re-qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) before any regulated/GxP use.
- Cosmetic Status: Good used condition consistent with a production lab. Minor surface scuffs and light handling marks on the SM-FTN front panel; a small paint chip near the right edge/handle (visible in photos). Overall clean, no major damage observed.
